A great need addressed—a Video and Instagram images of Prayer for GRACE for all nations

28 June, 2021 By Yvon Prehn Leave a Comment

A prayer for Grace for all nations
A prayer for Grace for all nations is desperately needed in our contentious times.

Grace, unmerited favor and kindness, which we receive from God and should share with our fellow pilgrims on this earth, is something we need now more than ever. To encourage that I created some Instagram images for you, plus the short video below.

Please watch the video as a prayer.

The materials above are an updating of a project a few years ago when I wrote up the acronym GRACE as a prayer to celebrate the 4th of July, taking as my inspiration the line from the song, "America, America, God shed his grace on thee."

You can grab the video from YouTube and use it however you'd like. Below are Instagram images I first made and that are illustrated in the video.

You can download the Zip file for them here: 2020 INSTAGRAM GRACE Prayer for all nations

An ECC Member in Canada modified it for Canada Day and that in turn inspired me to create a series of Free PowerPoint slides and videos using it as a prayer, go to this link to download both of them: https://wp.me/pDky9-7mJ

4th of July Prayer for God's Grace on us

In addition to them, I created a series of PowerPoint Slides and videos you can use to celebrate the 4th of July for the U.S. and a set as a prayer of grace for any nation. Here is the link to them and they are illustrated below: https://wp.me/pDky9-7mD

You can freely use all these materials however you wish, but please DO PRAY for our hurting world, that God would change hearts and infuse it with his Grace.

Make STRATEGIC use of Father’s Day to grow your church–by targeting YOUNGER Dads

7 June, 2021 By Yvon Prehn Leave a Comment

Reach out to young dads at Father's Day
Fathers Day is a great time to reach out to young dads at your church.

Many churches today have an ideal church member they want to recruit—the younger male, the dad with a young family, and Father's Day is a great time to do a focused outreach to them.

Make sure men are visible at your church

Men need to be greeters, the ones who do announcements, are in the children's ministry when kids are dropped off, and other visual actions at the church. This isn't being sexist--men need to see that men are doing things at the church.

Most likely they are involved in all these areas, but you need to make sure they are front and center on this day.

Invite men back for a service project

Many studies show that younger men are part of a generation that believes in volunteering, in giving back. Asking this group to be part of service projects is a great way to involve them with the men of the church. Here are some ideas: [Read more...]

Free Islamic-looking (English letters) font for Ramadan publications or other times it might be appropriate

24 April, 2020 By Yvon Prehn Leave a Comment

Ramadan alone--share a kind note
I don't know the challenges of celebrating Ramadan alone, but we can acknowledge that we care to our Muslim friends.

Current note April 2020: it is currently the time of Ramadan for our Muslim neighbors and it is an especially challenging time because of the intensely social nature of Ramadan and the current restrictions because of the social distancing requirements many are wanting to follow. A kind note to a Muslim friend might be appropriate. I recently received an email from a Muslim friend and though I honestly didn't know what to say, I wanted them to know that I was acknowledging the challenges they were facing—it was meant as a gentle virtual hug and I hope accepted that way.

You don't have to use the fonts below to write the note, but in case you want to use them at some time for a related topic, this seemed like a good time to share this again.

Past post:

Whether it is for the month of Ramadan or any time that you want to create communications about the Muslim religion, a font that has an Islamic look while still using English letters, is useful. Below is a very short video that shows the website for a variety of useful Islamic looking fonts and below it is the link to the site.

Here is the link to the fonts:

A new look at Lent—baby steps to Christian walking worthy of our salvation

2 February, 2020 By Yvon Prehn 1 Comment

Lent reminds us to live for Jesus
Lent reminds us of the cost of our salvation and challenges us to live for Jesus.

I confess I was scared into becoming a Christian.—

As a little kid, I heard about hell in church, and I knew I didn't want to go there.

I had a Grandma who loved Jesus, the Bible, and who demonstrated every possible Christian virtue at home and to her neighbors. But wanting to be like my Grandma (which I did) wasn't my overwhelming concern regarding a relationship with God. Every night before I went to bed at the end of my prayers I would always add, "And please God, let me go to heaven when I die and not to hell."

Though we went to church every Sunday, that prayer tormented me until a Good News Bible Club teacher explained if you trusted Jesus as your Savior, you didn't need to worry about going to hell. Jesus' death on the cross paid for the sin that sent people to hell, and by accepting Him, by asking him to be my Savior, I wouldn't ever need to worry about it. I did ask Jesus to save me and never prayed that fearful prayer again.

What this has to do with Lent

As I was putting together the communications for Lent I realized the current public image of Christianity is a happy, happy one complete with the promise that if you become a Christian, life will always go well for you. Even those who don't subscribe to the crassness of the health and wealth gospel (if you give God money He will give you back much more), are shocked if someone in the family gets sick or loses their job. Any disappointment with what we think God owes us provides grounds for walking away from the faith or at least is a justification to be mad at God.

Lent gives us a corrective to that view. Lent reminds us that there are things about the Christian life that are difficult and costly. It challenges us to say “no” to ourselves in minor areas of life to strengthen our spiritual muscles for larger challenges. [Read more...]
