- Be primarily positive, if you are sharing a problem, do so in a way seeking a solution.
- Not be snarky, arrogant, dismissive of the work of others.
- When pointing out a problem or issue in church communications, be careful not to name names or specifically point fingers at a member of the Body of Christ.
- Not link to or recommend sites that use profane or irreverent language, even if they say they do it in the name church communications.
Personal note: in all my years of website posting and moderating comments I’ve had to delete less than a handful. Most comments are a delight to read and share, so jump into the conversation!
A Forum for members
As soon as possible, I want to add a Forum for members. Forums where you can ask questions and share solutions can be an extremely useful resource. I don’t know of any other place online where church communication creators can ask questions from the simple to the complex. This will also be a place for me to keep a public record of the many questions I’m asked. I answer a lot of personal email requests for help and then feel bad because the answers are not shared with more folks. The format of a forum would enable me to do this.
Please pray for me as I look at various Forum programs and work on figuring out how to set one up. If any of you have experience in this or can help, please let me know at yvon@effectivechurchcom.com.
Also, please become active when the Forum is launched. We will need moderators and frequent contributors who are experts or encouragers in various areas.
Add articles and other resources by church communicators
If you have a way you have solved a particular problem or a how-to article. I want to have a way to share them. I have done this on a limited basis in the past and the results and response has been wonderful.
I also want to find a way to continue to expand and share communication pieces and templates. I’ve started this with the Great Idea Swap books, please let me know what you think about them, and what topics you’d like covered next. It is a lot of work to put these together, but I was greatly inspired by doing them and I hope you are also.
I want to expand this area to include templates by church communicators.
Additional columnists and books by other authorities in church communications
I’ve learned so much from publishing my materials through lulu.com and would like to expand the ministry of publishing to other church communicators who are national authorities or not national yet, but really good, but who many not have published for the Christian market.
I need to do a bit more work, but I’ve about got the lulu.com system figured out and would really like to expand what Effective Church Communications offers. Lulu just made a huge decision to carry the work of traditional authors that amazon also carries and to go into direct competition with them (big article in USAToday). This will potentially give much greater exposure to church communciations and to the authors who write for them.
Again, please pray—my goal is to equip the saints (all of you!) to effectively do the work of church communications.
Be part of our PR team also
Lots of church communicators need help and encouragement and they don’t know this site exists for them and you can help spread the word:

- Tell ministry groups, pastor’s groups, church secretary groups about this site.
- If you want permission for handouts, free PDF print-outs, materials for training groups in church communciations, contact me (yvon@effectivechurchcom.com) and I can provide it for you.
Please email me at yvon@effectivechurchcom.com if you have questions about or are interested in participating in any of these areas……but right now, please share some of your wise, kind, insightful and encouraging comments on the articles already here!
Thank you and many blessings in advance.
